Great App!
This app is very well-done: the pictures are vibrant, the voices are clear, and I like the feature that allows you to record your own voice. Weve experimented with having our son record his voice for some of the cards, and he giggles every time he hears himself say the words.
Just one problem and two suggestions..
The French pronunciations seem a bit off on some words. That could just be a dialect difference (Im from right outside Quebec) but my France born-and-raised mother agrees that some of the words are pronounced slightly wrong. That seems to be an issue with the Spanish words on this app as well, judging from the reviews.
I would suggest adding numbers up to 100 instead of stopping at 10.
I would also suggest adding more cards on a regular basis. Dont get me wrong - theres quite a few cards here, about 8 times more than a traditional store-bought deck. But any parent who has done actual flashcards with their child knows that after awhile, your child knows the whole deck and becomes disinterested in playing with them. Perhaps add some not-as-common animals, foods, shapes and everyday objects on a regular basis (every month, maybe?) to keep children interested and to give them an opportunity to continue learning with this app. I would definitely pay more if this was implented.
All in all, we love it, and so does my 19-month-old son! It certainly beats spending $1-$3 on multiple packs of flashcards to get the amount of "cards" in this app. And, I dont have to worry about ripped or ruined cards, lugging around multiple decks of cards, or forgetting them while were out and about. My husband, my brother, and my sister-in-law all have this app on their phones now so my son can play with it when hes with them, thats how much he digs it. Definitely worth $.99 and then some!
I also downloaded the spelling app by this dev, knowing my son would be way too young to use it, but figuring itd be worth downloading for the future. To my surprise, my husband opened the app for our son to let him play around with it, and hes actually learned to spell a few simple words. If you have a younger toddler, its worth it to download (its free) and you may be surprised to find your child is able to use it, as well.
